For members with Medicare Advantage in Virginia, multiple plan types are available. These include: HMOs and HMO-POS (Point-of-Service) plans, allowing both in- and out-of-network providers; PPOs; PFFS (Private Fee-for-Service) plans; and Medical Savings Account (MSA) plans. Eligible members may select Special Needs Plans (SNPs), as well.
According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, in 2018, 1,238,748 residents enrolled in Original Medicare and 273,981 residents enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan.
