Medicare Advantage Tennessee

More Medicare members are choosing Medicare Advantage over Original Medicare than ever before. Enrollment in the private alternative to traditional Medicare now covers 45% of everyone with Medicare.

The same holds true in Tennessee. Per data from the Kaiser Family Foundation, Medicare Advantage enrollment in the Volunteer State represented 51% of the total Medicare population here in 2022.

Private plans have become more popular at least in part because they provide a host of additional benefits that Original Medicare (Parts A and B together) doesn’t cover. You may find Medicare Advantage plans with coverage for prescription drugs, dental and vision, hearing aids, acupuncture and more.

These added benefits may or may not come with an added premium. You’ll always have a premium for the Original portion of your coverage, but any additional premium for Advantage depends on the plan.

In Tennessee, the average premium for Medicare Advantage in 2023 is $17.09 a month according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Every Medicare member in the state will have access to at least one private plan and at least one that comes with a $0 monthly premium. In total, there will be 129 Medicare Advantage plans available in the state for 2023. Individual plan options and pricing are determined by your zip code.
