GlobalHealth is an Oklahoma-based insurer offering Medicare Advantage plans to residents in 44 of the 77 counties in the state, including Cleveland, Oklahoma and Rogers. In business since 2003, GlobalHealth first offered Medicare Advantage plans in 2013. The insurer also offers group health insurance plans and coverage for educators and government employees. Through its various health plans, GlobalHealth insures about 44,000 people. Participation in GlobalHealth’s Medicare Advantage plans increased by 30 percent from 2017 to 2018.
Medicare Advantage plans from GlobalHealth are based on an HMO structure and fall into three categories: Generations Value, Generations Classic and Generations Select. One plan offers medical coverage only while the other two include prescription drug benefits. The company’s provider network features an assortment of local hospitals and physicians in the Oklahoma City and Tulsa areas. There are over 5,000 providers in the network, which includes hospital systems Integris Baptist Medical Center and Hillcrest Medical Center, among others.
CMS gave GlobalHealth’s 2019 Medicare Advantage plans an overall rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars. Both the company’s healthcare plans and its prescription drug services received a score of 3.5 stars as well. This was a half-star increase for the drug plan, which had been rated 3.0 stars in 2018.
GlobalHealth has received provisional accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance. NCQA gave GlobalHealth’s 2018-2019 commercial plans a rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars.
